Figs FEATURED as Secret Ingredient ON “IRON CHEF AMERICA”
National Show Highlights Versatility of Figs, a Valued California Commodity
Dear California Fig Industry and Friends,
Did you catch last night’s episode of “Iron Chef America” on the Food Network? California Figs were the featured secret ingredient! Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto competed against Aspen, Colo.-based chef, Dena Marino, in the first-ever fig challenge. Both chefs used one of the Valley’s most cherished commodities in unique and exciting ways!
The California Fig Advisory Board and California Fresh Fig Growers Association had a big hand in making this happen! To celebrate the fig’s new national fame, the fig industry is working with local Chef Vatche Moukhatarian of the Cracked Pepper Bistro to create a one-night-only special tasting menu and rebroadcast of the figs national debut this week featuring California Figs.
